Letters to Palestine
Wesam Rajab
Wesam Rajab is a Palestinian mother whose name has become synonymous with resilience, love, and the unbearable pain of loss. She is the mother of Hind Rajab, the six-year-old girl whose heartbreaking story touched the world in early 2024.
Hind, full of life and innocence, was tragically martyred by Zionist forces alongside her family in Gaza during the ongoing conflict. Wesam’s grief was amplified by the haunting last phone calls she received from her terrified daughter, who pleaded for help as she was trapped alone in a car surrounded by the bodies of her loved ones.
Despite her unimaginable sorrow, Wesam’s strength has shone through. She has become a voice for grieving mothers everywhere, demanding justice and remembrance for Hind and the countless other children lost to war. Her love for Hind remains eternal—a love that no settler colonial entity can erase.
Wesam Rajab’s story is one of profound heartbreak, but also of a mother’s undying love—a love that continues to inspire the world to remember Hind and all the innocent lives taken too soon.
