ULF Condemns The Attack On Pro-Palestinian Activists In Michigan
The United Liberation Front condemns in the strongest terms, the violence that was incited during an event held by Congressman Shri Thanedar against Pro-Palestinian protesters expressing their legitimate grievances regarding his stance on the Zionist Occupation and his unwavering support for it.
Last Saturday, during a holiday party that was open to the public, Congressman Thanedar’s constituents attended in person to express their opposition to his unwavering stance with the Zionist Occupation and the genocide they are committing against the Palestinians in Gaza. No sooner did they confront him, than an appalling display of authoritarian aggression unfolded.
Eyewitnesses and victims alike recount a distressing scene where Congressman Thanedar, rather than engaging in a constructive dialogue, allowed a security detail to resort to violence against peaceful protesters—men, women, and children alike.
Protesters, exercising their constitutional right to dissent, were met with physical intimidation, excessive force, and acts of brutality. The atmosphere quickly turned chaotic, with reports of choking and physical altercations as the security personnel and some of the congressman's friends reportedly engaged in aggressive actions towards protesters. Particularly, three individuals—Paul Selviri (owner of the venue hosting this party, who was filmed pushing protesters and twisting the arms of an activist), Bernice Smith (who was filmed on camera hitting activists with her cane), and Bobbie Johnson (who, by multiple accounts, choked an activist shortly before being punched). Thanedar’s constituents, who initially sought to peacefully voice their concerns, were shocked to see the situation escalate in this manner.
The United Liberation Front insists on a transparent and thorough investigation into the alleged violence orchestrated against activists at Congressman Shri Thanedar’s event. We call for a swift and unreserved public apology from the Congressman to the Pro-Palestinian protesters who were subjected to this brutality.
Furthermore, we want to make it unequivocally clear that failure to address these concerns promptly will result in intensified scrutiny and direct action against Congressman Shri Thanedar. The citizens he represents demand justice, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to the protection of democratic principles.
We urge all concerned authorities to prioritize the well-being and rights of the people over political expediency. It is crucial that Congressman Shri Thanedar be held accountable for these actions, and we stand ready to mobilize collective efforts until justice is served and the democratic values we hold dear are upheld.
The United Liberation Front remains steadfast in its commitment to championing justice, liberation, and the principles that safeguard the democratic fabric of our society. We will continue to assert that the Palestinian struggle is a righteous one, and we will actively oppose anyone who stands against it.
