Anas Al-Sharif

“Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it.” (Quran 2:154)

The United Liberation Front For Palestine expresses incredible grief and sorrow after confirming the martyrdom of beloved reporter and voice of Palestine, Anas Al-Sharif, who was targeted moments ago by the Zionist terrorists of the israeli genocidal forces, after bombing the entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

For the past 22 months, Anas Al-Sharif has been a mountain and a megaphone for our people in Palestine, covering the truth and the reality of the genocide, the displacement, and the starvation campaign that has taken place, as a result of the Zionist Holocaust campaign.

Anas Al-Sharif was more than a journalist—he was a witness for an entire people, a steadfast voice from the rubble, and a mirror that reflected the truth of Gaza to the world. Born and raised in the Jabalia refugee camp, he grew up in the shadow of incomprehensible siege, knowing from an early age that the work of survival and the work of storytelling were inseparable in Palestine.

A graduate of Al-Aqsa University’s journalism program, Anas dedicated his life to reporting for Al Jazeera Arabic, often from the most dangerous front lines in northern Gaza. He refused to leave when others had no choice but to evacuate, because he knew that the erasure of a people begins with the silencing of their stories. Through nights of bombardment and days of smoke-choked air, he carried his camera not as a weapon, but as a shield against lies.

Anas’s work came at immense personal cost. He endured direct threats from the Zionist military. He bore the grief of losing his father in an israeli airstrike that destroyed the family home. He lived each day with the knowledge that his name was being smeared in an attempt to justify his murder. And yet, he never faltered. His voice remained calm, his footage unflinching, his commitment to the truth absolute.

In his final days, Anas continued to do what he had always done: stand with the people of Gaza, recording their pain, resilience, and humanity for the world to see. His death at the hands of the same forces he had long exposed is yet another attack on the truth itself by forces of the Zionist entity and its master, the Terrorist States of America.

Joining him in martyrdom are his colleagues Mohammed Qraiqea, and his photographers, Ibrahim Taher and Mohammad Nawfal, who were also targeted in the same attack.

Anas Al-Sharif leaves behind a legacy of courage that cannot be bombed into dust. He joins the countless Palestinian journalists whose lives were cut short, yet whose stories will outlive the death machines that killed them. In mourning him, we inherit his duty: to speak when others are silent and to ensure that Palestine is never forgotten until it is free, and until the Zionist entity is a bitter, distant, memory.

Statement — August 10th 2025

ANAS AL-SHARIF’S FINAL WILL AND TESTAMENT:

“This is my will, and my final message.

If my words reach you, then know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice.

Peace and mercy and blessings of God be upon you.

God knows that I have given all that I possess of effort and strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleyways and streets of Jabalia refugee camp. My greatest wish was to return one day to my family and siblings in my hometown of the occupied city of Asqalan (“Majdal”), but it was God’s will—so all praise to Him, the Most High, the Most Wise.

I have lived through pain in all its details, and tasted sorrow and loss countless times. Yet despite this, not a single day passed without striving to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification. May God be my witness that those who killed us did not silence our hearts, and those who besieged us did not break our souls. They did not move the toys of our children from our hands, nor stop the melody that our people have been humming for more than a year and a half.

I urge you to hold on to Palestine, the jewel of the Muslim crown and the beating heart of every free soul in this world.

I urge you to hold on to its people, and to protect its oppressed children who have not yet lived out their full lives—so that they may dream and live in peace and safety.

Thousands of tons of bombs, rockets, and Israeli shells have torn apart their innocent bodies, scattering them to pieces, and their songs have been etched into the walls.

I urge you not to let the chains bind you, and not to let the borders confine you. Be bold in striving for the liberation of the land and its return, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our wounded country.

I urge you to take care of my beloved daughter, Sham, whose days were not long enough to see her grow as I had dreamed.

I urge you to take care of my precious son, Salah, whom I wished to accompany and walk alongside until he grew up, carrying the burden and continuing the message.

I urge you to care for my dear mother, whose prayers have been my fortress and whose light has guided my path. I ask God to keep her heart firm and to reward her with the best of rewards.

I also urge you to care for my wife, the love of my life, the mother of my beloved Salah, who has been my partner for many long days and months—yet remained steadfast in her vow, firm as an olive tree branch, patient and content in all circumstances.

I urge you to gather around them, and to be their support after the strength and might of God.

If I die, then I die steadfast in my principles. I bear witness before God that I am content with His decree, believing in meeting Him, and certain that what is with God is better and everlasting.

O Allah, count me among the martyrs, forgive me my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family.

Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me to receive mercy, for I have remained true to my covenant, never changing nor replacing it.

Do not forget Gaza…

And do not forget me from your righteous prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.”
