THE MARCH OF RETURN: A Historic and Unprecedented Moment in Palestinian History
For the very first time, we witnessed an instance where Palestinians who’ve been forcibly expelled from their homes, getting to return to their lands. For nearly 15 months, thousands of residents of Northern Gaza were violently displaced to the south by Zionist forces, who were bent on breaking the will of the Palestinian people. They failed, and after a resounding victory by the resistance, these Palestinians from Gaza are finally returning to their homes in the North.
The specter of the Nakba in 1948 and the Naksa in 1967, were painful memories that loomed over all of us—retraumatizing generations as we saw the same scenes play out in November 2023, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were violently forced to go South.
For the first time, however, we are seeing displaced Palestinians moving in the opposite direction. This destroys the Zionist entity’s hopes of ever colonizing Gaza again. This also destroys the myths that hypocrites and normalizers have spread over the decades saying Palestinians sold their lands or voluntarily left. Given the opportunity, Palestinians will ALWAYS return.
This moment has given us all a taste of the incredible feeling we believe we’ll all experience when all our people are able to return to their homelands in Occupied Palestine. When all our people have the right to return to their cities of Yaffa, Haifa, Akka, Beir El Sabe’, Al-Lydd, and Al-Quds.
It is incredibly important to note that a large majority of Palestinians returning are returning to rubble. Although they have all the hope in rebuilding—it is our responsibility to help them in any way we can.
May we see all our people return and may we return alongside them.
