THE ZIONIST ENTITY LEGALIZES THE EXECUTION OF PALESTINIANS

On the 50th anniversary of Land Day, the Zionist entity crosses a threshold that cannot be ignored or normalized.

This morning, on the 50th anniversary of Land Day, news reports confirmed that the parliamentary arm of the Zionist entity passed a law that would legalize the death penalty against Palestinians.

The law grants the criminal minister of security Itamar Ben Gvir the authority to decide where a prisoner is tried—whether that’s in civilian court or in military court. On top of that, unanimity amongst judges is not required and the prosecution does not need to file a request to consider the death penalty. This law as it is written, only applies to Palestinians and states that the death penalty shall be imposed on anyone responsible for the killing of either an israeli soldier or settler if the person charged does not recognize the existence of the Zionist entity.

The law prevents the government from releasing any prisoners who have been sentenced to death, including through any exchange deals made between the Palestinian resistance and the Zionist entity. It requires the execution to be performed no later than 90 days from when it’s been sentenced, except under special circumstances which would then push the execution to a maximum of 180 days. The death sentence would specifically be carried out by hanging via a prison officer appointed by the Prison Service Commissioner.

The United Liberation Front for Palestine condemns this in the strongest terms. Palestinian prisoners are a core tenant of our Thawabet. They are our moral compass, and their captivity has always been one of the clearest expressions of why we resist: to bring them home. While Al-Aqsa has remained closed for more than a month, settlers of the Zionist entity prepare for Passover in the coming days, a period that has repeatedly coincided with escalations and even more intensified violence against our people.

To those who are continuing to respond with silence and statements that lead to nowhere, understand that inaction in the face of legalized execution is complicity in its most direct form. We call on our communities, our allies, and those who claim to stand for justice. You must escalate all forms of engagement and refuse to allow this law to exist uncontested in the public consciousness or in your political spaces.

The Zionist entity has made its position clear and we must make ours clearer. If they are legalizing the execution of Palestinians, then the response cannot be symbolic. Land Day is a reminder that our people have always paid for their land in blood. Today, the Zionist entity has announced that every Palestinian is subject to death for simply existing. Our unshakable commitment to liberation requires us to stand firmly against this.

We cannot abandon our prisoners.
