Hudaifah Al-Kahlout (Abu Obeida)
“Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it.” (Quran 2:154)
The United Liberation Front for Palestine expresses the deepest grief as it mourns and commemorates the martyrdom of Palestinian Resistance commander and spokesperson Hudaifah Al-Kahlout, known as Abu Obeida.
For 77 years, Palestinians have been told to accept erasure without resistance by an international body that knows neither honor nor justice. We’ve been told time and time again to condemn ourselves before we are permitted to mourn or be mourned.
The Palestinian Resistance, with Abu Obeida as its voice, refused that script. He spoke while Gaza burned around him, as weeks would go by without any tangible response by the so-called international community. He spoke while children were dug out of rubble, murdered by artillery, and orphaned by the thousands. He spoke while the world perfected new ways to excuse the unexcusable. He spoke—and we saw his body withstand starvation as he continued to be the voice for all of us. That refusal to submit to a system built on Zionism and imperialism—a system that depends on Palestinian submission—made him a primary target to the Zionist entity.
The outrage over Palestinian speech has never been about violence. The violence is state policy, livestreamed and funded. The outrage is about Palestinians who name their condition without apology and who refuse to translate their suffering into language approved by their executioners.
Abu Obeida’s death joins a long list of assassinated voices, shattered families, and erased histories. Each one has become evidence of a system so brittle it must kill to survive. And if the goal was silence, it has failed. If the goal was fear, it has backfired into unrelenting courage.
And even so, his voice will continue to remain in every person who stands for Palestine, and who commits to seeing the Zionist entity erased from our present reality and until justice is truly served.
Glory to our martyrs.
