“They will be received by the angels of mercy with the greeting: Peace be with you, enter Paradise as a reward for your good deeds.” (Quran 16:32)
Moments ago, we were able to confirm brother Saed’s martyrdom after being murdered by an israeli sniper in cold blood. Just before he was killed, Saed was reporting on the latest round of israeli airstrikes on Al-Nuseirat in Gaza. His kind heart and compassionate nature propelled him to help with carrying a neighbor who was injured in a recent airstrike alongside other Palestinians, striving to evacuate as many wounded as possible. Amid this selfless act, an israeli soldier shot him in the chest.
Saed’s loss is deeply personal to us. We shared words of grief with him only weeks ago as we mourned the death of his uncle, and the world’s uncle, Sheikh Khaled Nabhan—who was killed in an israeli airstrike just three weeks earlier. Alongside @savesheikhjarrah, we endorsed a campaign to raise funds for Saed’s family as a means of providing any relief in the wake of his uncle’s passing.
The news of Saed’s death crushes us. A dedicated journalist and true craftsman, he had a passion for photography, which he himself described as capturing “a moment that will never repeat.” Saed had recently become a father but could not hold his newborn son for nearly eight months due to displacement caused by IOF aggression. Over the course of 460+ days of this ongoing genocide against our Palestinian families in Gaza, Saed endured multiple injuries after israeli forces bombed his home and directly targeted him using an israeli drone.
We will dearly miss him, cherish what few moments we had with him, and continue to uphold our commitment to the cause. We vow to continue our struggle for a free and liberated Palestine, where his son, Anas, and all our children can live with dignity and freedom.
Please give our salams to your uncle for us.
